Tangent Alert

The following post has NOTHING to do with WoW.  If you are carving a GLDC WoW-related post, please come back later today.   /looking around...dust settling.

Okay, if you stayed...thanks.  This simply a quick post for all of you writers or wanna-be writers out there.  November is almost here and with it comes...come on, I am sure you know!

Turkeys?  No.

Fall? No

Uncle Bill passing out at Thanksgiving after too much beer? Sadly, this will happen, but NO.

I am talking about Nanowrimo

"Say what??"

Ummmkkhhnm, excuse me, I had to clear my throat.  November is National Novel Writing Month.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with this, it is a month long contest held throughout November.  What is the point?  Write 50,000 words in 30 days.  Sounds crazy, but it really a great deal of fun.

I have participated in it for a couple of years and have never been able to break my 9,000 word mark.  This year it is different.  This year I have a PLAN!

So why am I bothering you guys with this?  Well, two reasons, first you, yes you, might have some novel you have been thinking about for years but never thought about putting to paper. Carpe diem and all that Jazz!  Join the other 90,000 lunatics who are taking the plunge.

Second, since I will be working on this project for the next month, my WoW play time will be cut down.  I will try to keep the posting as regular as they have been, but please don't freak if my posts come at a slower clip.

If you decided to do it and want to be one of my "writing buddys" send me an email at dwarvenchick@gmail.com with your username on Nanowrimo and I will add you :)

Oh and look for a new poll later today.

Happy Writing!

*makes the sign against evil* Nooooo! I will not get sucked inot NaNoWriMo! No nononono!

Seriously, I did wednesday night writers group when I was still in Phoenix. Then I moved back to Texas. No more writers group. And I've been hard put to write much more than cooperative storytelling (World of Darkness Roleplay) in play by email format with friends.
Enjoy the insanity though and keep us updated with how it goes!

Writing groups...yeah, in one now.

Did you stop writing your work because you got overwhelmed with the group or just no good ideas to flesh out?

LOL, I will keep you guys posted. I am sure I will be bald by the end of it, but hey they can make natural looking wigs!

I, like about 2/3 of the ladies who attended (It was an all woman's group at the time, since it was started at a the Fresh STart Women's center in Phoenix. Big drama fuss crap with center and group moved. Fortunatly this all occured right after I moved. YAY for missing drama!

Anyways. Um, I shouldn't make responses when I'm tired. You didn't need to know the above. *lol*

2/3 of the ladies in attendance were like me. The only time and inspiration we had to write was once a week at writers group. I have been uninspired since. We'd feed off each others creativity. It drove us to keep writing. It was really an amazing group of ladies and I -miss- them. :(

While I'm VERY VERY VERY happy that I moved, I've just lost the ooomf to keep writing again.

Woot, nano!

I have yet to indulge, despite the fact that I love writing and have a few friends that are also writers.

I don't think I could get away with cutting back my WoW time though!!

I would be threatened with the wrath of doom!

The Egotistical Priest said...

Oh! Will you be posting your progress anywhere? I'd be very curious to see it!

@Suzanne:

I can completely understand that lack of "inspiration", I am so thankful I have GLDC, because it is forcing me to write almost every day and am starting to create a consistent writing habit. If you ever decide to create a blog or post your work, let me know, I will be there with bells on!

@Ego
/WHHHHHOOOOOHHHOOO
A ghostly figure extends her bony finger, "Come into the darkness, Ego. We want you to join us."

LOL

I will post a very discrete word count on the site. And if you want more detailed information, it will be posted on my Nano profile. I ‘ll add a link to it under the meter.

Thanks everyone for the vote of encouragement. I will need it!

Now that people are less likely to reread the comments this far down, I feel ok posting to you that I do have a blog. I've been using LJ for oooh... 4? years now. I used to be a more consistent poster, but I'm less so now. It's just a personal blog wher eI keep in touch with friends (near and far), rant about WoW (rarely), whine, etc.

I do need to put fingers to keyboard on my laptop and write though. I've been listening to Blackmore's Night - Village Lanterne and it's inspiring a story in my head. I need to start it before the idea is gone. >.< It's the first inspiration to write I've had since I left the ladies in Phoenix behind.

PS: You have my lj user name already. It was the url I left with the postcard. And I'll fully understand if you don't read it regularly due to content and sometimes lack of content! =)

Postcard?

I'm pretty forgetful, so I apologize...what postcard?

Suzanne said...

Oh. My. I guess I was wrong that no one was checking comments with new posts up. *lol*

Scroll down some posts. You'll see a piccy of a Dreanei hunter wishing Bre and friends happy halloween. In the post under that, in the comments, is my pics.livejournal url, which contains my LJ username.

The LJ isn't a WoW blog, just personal rants, raves, obsessions, whines, as well as silence when I forget to post for awhile. It contains WoW fodder now and again that I usually shove behind a cut because most of my friends list doesn't play. It's rare I make a friends locked post unless it contains phone numbers and such I need to pass around.

*grins* Blogger recently implemented a checkbox for "email me updates"

And I totally tested it on this thread.

I am winnar!

Suzanne said...

Bwhahaha! Ok, yes, you win. I saw that little check box there, but haven't checked it since I usually come back in a fit of boredom, scroll around, and see if comment numbers changed. Doesn't matter if I ever posted to the thread. :)

I need something to do so Lazy Town and Dora don't drive me crazy!

Suzanne...I SEE YOU!!!! MAAUUHHAUUWWWW...I have located your site. Now you shall never get rid of me.

/Suzanne slap restraining order on Bre’s head.
"Okay, okay. I will calm down." Now I have to create a livejournal account so I can scare *um* common on your posts. :)

Seriously, thanks for telling, me. I shall be reading!

I suppose I could have a worse journal stalker. *lol*

And welcome to LJ. There's a couple really nice WoW communities you might enjoy. wow_ladies and worldofwarcraft. WoW insider bloggers seem to steal from these two communities a lot. =)
